My views on Fake Tanning Products

Fake tans had a bad reputation in the past. But everything changed in recent years. I have tried and worked with lots of different Fake Tans over the years, Clarin’s, St Tropez, Fake Bake, and finally Sienna X Spray Tanning. The last one is my absolute favorite. It looks natural, smells good, and doesn’t leave you feeling sticky.

How can you have a Spray Tan done at home?

Having a Spray Tan done at home is simple. The Therapist will bring a pop up tent which you will stand in. Its quick, clean and easy and the whole process which includes setting up, appying a barrier cream on the hands and feet followed by spraying of the tan and taking down the tent takes a total of 20 Minutes.

Tips for keeping your skin youthful

Did you know that once we hit 25 our skin is actually classed as mature? This is when we start to lose collagen and we should start taking extra care of our skin to slow down the ageing process. Read my Top Tips for keeping the skin looking younger for longer.

Beauty Salon Versus Mobile Beautician

Most women these days have some kind of beauty treatment done weekly or monthly. How do you decide what's best for you with regard to getting a Mobile Beauty Therapist round or going to your local salon? Let me help you to get some clarity. Read my thoughts on both approaches.

How you can treat adult acne

This is a subject I know a lot about. I suffered from Acne from the age of 22 on and off for over 6 years. After trying all the usual products at the chemist, spending hundreds of pounds on lotions and getting nowhere, I moved to treatments that need a prescription from a doctor. I was consistent and lucky enough to find a drug that delivered long-lasting results for me.

What foods can you eat to boost the skin from within during the winter?

In cold weather, it’s more important to take care of your skin. Cold wind and central heating all play a part in dehydrating the skin and reducing radiance. Some foods will nourish your skin from within and help you keep your skin in top shape through the cold winter months.

My tips for looking your best whilst exercising

Working hard at the gym usually means getting a little hot and breaking a sweat. The last thing you want is makeup running down your face, this isn't a good look, and it's not good for your skin either. Here are some tips I would recommend to give you a more natural look whilst exercising.

Environ Accumax Info – supplements for break-outs and problematic skins

Skin Accumax is a nutritional supplement that contains a combination of vitamins A, C, E, and DIM, an active nutrient complex found in broccoli, to support skin health. Regardless of whether you’re only occasionally unhappy with your skin, or if you have ongoing concerns you can take Skin Accumax. It’s suitable for males and females, as long as you’re over the age of 16.

My views on Foundations

Over the years I have tried and used many different foundations. I tried Mac, Clarins & Clinique.

I personally found Mac to be to heavy. I think Mac would be great for a photography studio photoshoot but I think for day to day wear its a bit too much unless you like a really heavily made up look. I also found it blocked my pores.

With the Clarin’s foundation I found none of the colours were an exact match. Either too light or too dark. Again the coverage was a bit heavy and I found it didn't look natural.

I absolutely love Clinique foundation. The colour matched exactly, it's not too heavy so it definitely looks natural and that's the look I personally prefer. It gave my skin a natural flawless finish. I really like the Super Balanced Foundation which rehydrates the dry areas and dries out the oily areas. I also really like Clinique loose powder and the Airbrush Concealer which is great for covering dark circles but is light in texture so doesn't accentuate fine lines around the eyes.

How do I get rid of the little broken veins around my nose and cheeks?

Sometimes these broken capillaries can be genetic but they are usually a result of sun damage, smoking, harsh temperatures or treating the skin roughly. Over indulgence in alcohol / spicy food can also make them flare up. You can get rid of them semi-permanently with laser treatments. Vitamin C helps to reduce the appearance of smaller threads and colostrum wraps collagen around the capillaries therefore strengthening them. You can treat topically and internally with capsules.

I like these Environ C Boost, Environ Colostrum, Skin Vit C Capsules, Colostrum Capsules.

Environ Cool Face Peel - What is it?

New Treatment offered – Cool Face Peel.

What is it? The cool peel is a mild peel made of lactic acid. Our skins are made of lactic acid so it is the safest way to peel our skin.  The percentage of lactic acid in the professional peel is 5%.

Suitable for

  • All skin types
  • Particularly good for oily, acne or rosacea
  • Thickened sun damaged skin

Not suitable for - Hyper pigmentation should not be treated because when we peel our skin we make it more susceptible to uv penetration and consequently that can lead to more melanin being produced so the condition can get worse.

Benefits you can see

  • Remove excess dead skin cells without damaging or striping the skin
  • Thickens the epidermis of our skin
  • Soften and smooths wrinkles and fine lines
  • Improve skins radiance / natural moisture
  • Reduces and prevents breakouts
  • Will lighten superficial pigmentation
  • Reduces redness
  • Kills bacteria

Whats actually happening - Growth factors will stimulate the production of collagen and elastin to tighten the skin reducing lines, wrinkles and making the skin plumper. Cool peels result in the release of TGF (Transforming growth factor) which is responsible for scar less healing.

Preparation for the cool peel.

  • Clients must be using a Vitamin A cream for a minimum of 3 weeks prior to treatment.
  • Patch test 48 hours before.

Contra-indications

  • Skin not prepared with Vitamin A
  • Excessive Sun bed users / recent exposure to the sun
  • Diabetes or other major illness – doctors note required
  • Radiation treatment
  • Skin deasease like Porphyria
  • Roaccuatane
  • Recent dermabrasion or laser resurfacing treatments
  • Waxing of the area is not recommended 10 days before or after the peel.

Skin care after peeling

  • Avoid sun exposure for minimum of 7 days
  • Sunscreen must be worn daily
  • No swimming in the sea or swimming pool for 24 hours
  • Do not pick or rub the skin
  • Avoid use of AHA or other exfoliating products for 48 hours
  • Make up and normal skincare can be worn

For stubborn skin conditions a course is recommended

  • Problematic skin –  Treat once a week for 6 weeks. Support daily with the home peel kit.
  • Sun Damaged skin – Treat once a week for 6 weeks and support with the home peel kit 2-3 times per week.

Please note the home peel kit has 2.5% of lactic acid and the professional one is 5% lactic acid. Laura's Mobile Beauty Treats now offers facial peels. See facials in the treatment section. www.laurasmobilebeautytreats.com

Can you shrink enlarged open pores?

The size of your pores is genetic. You can minimise large pores on the nose and chin with intensive treatment from a trained skincare therapist. Regular use of a pore minimising will help clear them of oily residue - minimising ingrained oily build up will prevent them from appearing larger then they are. Products like Environ B- Active Sebu range with salicylic acid will help unclog the pores and dissolve oil build up. High levels of Vitamin A will also help reduce enlarged pores. Sun damage can make pores look larger so protect with a light SPF like Alpha Day Lotion. Do not over-cleanse your skin as this will stimulate oil production.

All of these products will help with blocked pores.http://www.environ.co.za/ranges/b-active-range, http://www.environ.co.za/ranges/avst-range, http://www.environ.co.za/ranges/ionzyme-range, http://www.environ.co.za/products/intensive-alpha-hydroxy-cream, http://www.environ.co.za/products/intensive-alpha-hydroxy-gel

My skin gets dull and dry in winter, even though I moisturise. What can i do?

Skin will naturally get drier in the cold weather. Also being in the central heating will also dehydrate the skin. Absence of sunlight skin produces less oil resulting in a dull complexion and more visible dehydration lines. Using something like Environ Ionzyme Hydrating Serum regularly will help. To maximize the result I would first cleanse and tone with environ AVST cleanser and Toner then use the home Cosmetic roll kit. Roll the skin for 3-5 minutes creating little channels into the skin for deeper absorption. Apply the Hydration Serum and leave the skin for 5-10 mins before applying your daily vitamin cream.www.laurasmobilebeautytreats.com

The Dermaroller - What is it?

New Treatment- Derma Roller Collagen Stimulation Therapy ™ otherwise known as the DermaRoller or Micro Needling is a cutting-edge treatment technique that harnesses your body’s natural powers of healing to increase collagen and achieve incredible results. It is especially effective for addressing the visible signs of ageing, as well as sun damage, scarring, slackened skin, stretch marks, uneven skintone and dilated blood vessels. Pioneering South African plastic surgeon and founder of Environ skincare Dr. Des Fernandes developed the process of pricking the skin with multiple tiny needs to stimulate collagen production without causing any damage to the epidermis back in 1996.

What will happen during the treatment? - During this revolutionary procedure, a skincare professional will apply a topical anesthetic to ensure your comfort and will use a small instrument containing tiny needles (1mm on the face – 3mm on the body) to create thousands of microscopic channels in your skin.  This causes a minimal amount of bleeding that stops within minutes. After the treatment your practitioner will apply nourishing vitamins A and C to your skin followed by a soothing face mask.

How it works - The body responds to Collagen Stimulation Therapy ™ in the same way as it would to an injury.  The small amount of bleeding caused during treatment releases powerful growth factors, part of a natural healing response that results in increased collagen and elastin production.

What do I have to do to prepare for this treatment? - It is vitally important that the skin is first prepared with Environ vitamin A products for a minimum of 3 weeks prior to treatment.  Ideally it should be 3 months. The longer the skin has been prepared with vitamin A the faster and better it will heal.  Vitamin A has been proven to thicken the epidermis and increase collagen deposition.

What can I expect after the treatment? - The tiny holes in the skin close completely within 12 hours and it has been shown that after 12 hours there is no evidence of any damage to the epidermis (the surface of the skin). The bleeding stops almost immediately and the skin is left flushed (like a sunburn) for only about 24 hours. Although on a more sensitive skin the redness can sometimes last longer. The redness will decrease day by day but a slight pinkness can last up to 3 days. The healing phase lasts between 5 and 7 days and during this time the skin can feel dry and tight and will often flake. Some people can also experience a few spots.  After this the skin will look radiant, smooth and fresh.

The result

It will take longer to notice the tightening effects from Collagen Stimulation Therapy ™.  Dr Des Fernandes, known as the founding father of needling, has been performing micro-needling treatments since the early 1990s. One of the main things that he has learnt is that effects take time and the best results are achieved after multiple treatments (minimum of 6).  It takes time for the skin to lay down a thick layer of collagen and we advise that people should not expect to see significant tightening results until around 3 months after your first treatment.  People will then start to notice something different and comment on how good your skin is looking. The skin will continue to improve even after 6 months and treatments can be repeated.

ADVANTAGES OF SKIN NEEDLING ARE:

  • The first advantage is that this procedure does not permanently damage the skin.  The skin actually becomes thicker.
  • The healing phase is short.
  • The procedure is not painful due to the anaesthesia (topical only required for 1mm depth needling); there is also no post operative pain.
  • It is not as expensive as laser resurfacing.
  • Sun-sensitivity is a major and enduring problem in laser resurfacing, whereas after needling of the skin, the horny layer rapidly returns to its original thickness and the skin is not sun sensitive.
  • A major advantage is that this needling can be done on people who have had laser resurfacing, or those with very thin skin.
  • A very gratifying change occurs in dilated blood vessels, which may disappear.
  • The other advantage is that this does not really have to be done by a plastic surgeon or dermatologist.  The technique is easy to master because it does not require the artistic skills that are imperative in a tattoo artist.
  • If the result after the percutaneous collagen induction is not satisfactory to the patient, it can be repeated without any risk.

For best results, a series of six collagen stimulation Therapy treatments should be done at intervals between one week and one month, depending on clients time and skin recovery time. The cost for a course of 6 treatments is £1250. This includes 6 1.5 hour treatments, 60 skin vitamin C supplements retailed at £14 and the Environ Hydrating oil capsules retailed at £42. What is Eyelash Perming?

Eyelash perming is a treatment that makes the lashes permanently curled for a period of 4-6 weeks.

The process involves putting a small roller across the lashes and applying a low percentage perming solution for 15 minutes followed by a setting lotion for another 15 minutes. The whole process takes around 40 minutes. You can also make the lashes darker for the same period of time by getting them tinted.

Eyelash perming has been around for over a decade and is considered to be very safe however a patch test should always be carried out prior to an eyelash tint.

What to do when your lashes go frizzy after LVL lash lift

I went to a clients house recently to give her an LVL lash lift and this is what her lashes looked like before we started the treatment. Sadly as her lashes were in this state we could not do the treatment. When the lashes end up being frizzy it means that they have been over processed.

frizzy-lvl-lash-lift

So your probably wondering why has this happened and more importantly what can we do about it? Here are the reasons it happens.

Reason 1 - You are only supposed to apply the lash products lifting serum & setting serum from the root of the hair to half way up the lash (eg not root to tip) none of our girls would ever apply from root to tip as we did our training with Nouveau. If you go from root to tip you run the risk of over processing.

Reason 2 - It can happen if the LVL lash product is left on for too long during the treatment, everyone has different thickness and different lash lengths and we have a rough guideline that we follow for example if your lashes are super fine we would do the minimum time approximately 10 minutes, if your lashes are of medium thickness then around 12-14 minutes and if your lashes are super thick and strong we would leave on for the maximum time of approximately 16 minutes. If you ever get your lashes done and they look frizzy straight away or go frizzy within a couple of days you do need to tell your therapist as maybe it was left on a minute or two too long.

Reason 3 - Everyone has a different lash cycle, your lashes fall out every day and new ones come through without you noticing. For some people the lashes renew within 6-ish weeks but if your lash cycle is quite long for example more then 8 weeks then sometimes the lashes might dry out a bit towards the end of the cycle after an LVL.

Reason 4 - Sometimes your lashes can be left a tiny bit dry after an LVL and if you go on holiday and your in the sun and in a chlorine swimming pool that might dry them out more.

Reason 5 - If you get LVL done with your lashes are already still a bit curled after the last lash lift its like doing a perm over a perm and your lashes can go frizzy or break off. That is why it is so important to leave enough time between lash treatments, if you still have curled lashes do not get another LVL done until they have all grown out.

So what can we do about it? The main thing you want to do is get your lashes done with someone who has trained to a high level with a company like Nouveau, when you get your lashes down let them fully grow out before you get them done again & once you have had your lashes done keep your lashes hydrated by applying coconut oil and vaseline to them once to three times a week. This should prevent them going frizzy in the first place & if your lashes do end up frizzy just keep applying coconut oil or vaseline to smooth them out.

My views on Fake Tanning Products

With all the fake tan’s out there on the market now there really is no need to use a sunbed anymore. As we all know sunbeds are ageing for the skin and there’s always a risk of skin cancer. 10 Years ago we didn’t have the fake tan options that we do now, fake tans had a reputation for leaving you orange and streaky will not anymore I have tried and worked with lots of different Fake Tans over the years, Clarin’s, St Tropez, Fake Bake and finally Sienna X Spray Tanning.

I liked the Clarin’s self tanning gel, the tan was natural looking but if I’m totally honest the smell wasn't great and even after a shower there was still a strong smell. I really liked the St Tropez but the application was time consuming, incredibly messy and you looked like you had been rolling around in the mud. You really had to dedicate an entire evening to this and lets face it who has time to do that. Fake Bake was similar to St Tropez, the tan was nice once you had showered but straight after the tan application your left looking a bit muddy and with all the fake tans listed above you was always left feeling a bit sticky. You would have to put on some long PJ’s and sleep alone, again not always convenient.

Now recently I tried the Sienna X Spray Tan for the first time and I absolutely loved it. It genuinely smells nice, it didnt leave me feeling sticky, it does have a guideline colour so you can see where you are spraying the tan but it doesnt look muddy or dirty so I could leave the house with it on. I had it done in the afternoon and slept in it and it didnt come off all over my bed sheets. When I washed it off 10 hours later I was left with a streak free,  very natural tan. You get the choice of 3 percentages 8% is the most natural, 10% is medium and 12% is for Asian or darker skins or for those who like the fake look. The tan did fade slightly after 4-5 days but didnt completely come off for 8 days so you definitely get your moneys worth and everyone kept telling me how well I looked or kept asking if I had been on holiday.

Beauty Salon Versus Mobile Beautician

Ok so most women these days have some kind of Beauty Treatments done whether its painting your nails, having a facial or removing your leg hair most of us do some kind of beauty treatment done weekly or monthly.

So how do you decide what's best for you with regards to getting a Mobile Beauty Therapist round or going to your local salon. Let me help you decide.

So the Pro’s of getting a Mobile Beauty Therapist to your house are

•    If your lacking in time then this will save you time. If you are having an hours treatment then you will only use one hour out of your day. You wont have to waste time getting to and from the salon.

•     If you have children and you time it so they are asleep for a relaxing treatment like a Facial or a Massage or if they are relatively well behaved then things like Waxing, Manicures and Pedicures you can have done while your kids are there and you don't have to worry about arranging / cost of childcare.

•     If you work long hours then your therapist can come to you for a time that suits you, either really early in the morning before work or late in the evening after work.

•    It will cost you less. You don't have to worry about the extra cost of petrol, trains, buses and parking tickets.

•    You wont have the stress of relying on public transport or traffic to make sure you are on time.

•    If your the type of person who doesn't like to be seen without make up on / hair done then having a Therapist come to you is the perfect solution.

•    You will remain relaxed for longer if you don't have to worry about getting home after your beauty treatment.

•    The therapist can do couples or groups of you which again is great if you have children as you can have a pamper party and take it in turns to look after each others kids.

•    If you work from home then you can have things done but still be checking your emails / working on your laptop at the same time as having your treatments done. For example you could have your legs waxed whilst being on a conference call.

•    As the treatment’s are generally cheaper with a Mobile Beauty Therapist if your on a budget it will be more affordable for you. If your not on a budget then you can have the treatments done more regularly then you would if you was paying Salon or Spa prices.

•    Salons can sometimes be noisy so if your having something relaxing like a Massage then having it home can be a more enjoyable experience.

•    I think if a Beautician comes to your home its abit more personal so you will build a better relationship with her.

The Pro’s of going to a Salon.

•    If your house is Chaotic with kid’s, pet’s and husband’s its sometimes nicer to get away from it all.

•    If you don't like the idea of a stranger coming to your house then a beauty salon might be a better option for you.

•    The rooms in Beauty Salons / Spa’s are sometimes have nicer, warmer rooms  then your own home.

•    If your going to a luxury spa it can feel like more of a treat.

So in a nutshell its more convenient, cheaper and you have less things to worry about if you just get a Mobile Beautician to come to you.

My tips for looking your best whilst exercising

Ok so if your actually going to work hard whilst at the gym and working hard usually mean’s getting a little hot and breaking a sweat. The last thing you want is make up running down your face, this isn't a good look and its not good for your skin either. However I know some ladies may be a little self conscious about being bare faced in public, especially if your personal trainer is a bit of hunk.

Here's some tips I would recommend to give you a more natural look whilst exercising.

•    Get your Eyelashes tinted. This will make you look more bright eyed, like your wearing mascara. If you find your lashes still look a little flat you can always pop on a bit of clear mascara just to give them a bit of lift.

•    Another option is to get your Eyelashes Permed. If you tint / perm your lashes you really don't need Mascara. Once done by a professional this should last around 6-8 weeks.

•    Another option is Eyelash Extensions which need to be maintained every 2-3 weeks with infills.

•    If you really must wear Mascara then make sure its waterproof, I like Maybelline

•    To give the skin a healthy glow have a Spray Tan

•    If you really must wear something on your skin I really wouldn't recommend Foundation as its too heavy and will block your pores. I would go for something really light like Dermalogica’s tinted Moisturiser.

•    If you feel you need a little blusher again I would avoid powders that clog the pore’s. Go for something light and waterproof like Benefit Cheek tint.

Remember ladies you should remove the days make up off your skin before exercising. If you want something really quick then I recommend Simple Face Wipes. You can do your face and eyes in a minute or two.

Things you can do to make the best of yourself

So most of us aren't blessed with the looks of Angelina Jolie. Obviously there are a few obvious things like doing our hair and make up which will improve anyone’s appearance but I think  there are a few key things that everyone can do to make the best of what we have been given.

Get your Teeth Whitened

I have had mine laser whitened when I was travelling in Thailand. I have also done the home kit and it makes such a difference. The laser procedure is very quick, it took approx 45 minutes but the result is instant and your teeth get whiter and whiter over the next 48 hours. In Thailand its really cheap but here you can expect to pay £500+ and it lasts around 5 years although I would say if you drink lots of red wine, tea or coffee it wont last as long and you may need to do a top up every 6 months with the home kit. Make sure you go to a reputable company because if its not done properly it can cause you health problems. The other option is the home kit which takes about 2 weeks and the result was pretty much the same, although it doesnt last aslong. For the home fit you can expect to pay around £150 to get your mouth trays made and around £20 per gel syringe. For a 2 week course you will use around 4 syringes of whitening gel. So the first time around it costs more but then each time you do it you just need to buy the whitening gel  so its approx £80 every 6 months which isnt too expensive.

Have your Eyebrows tinted and shaped

If your fair or if your Eyebrows are grey you can have them tinted to match your hair colour or to make them a shade darker to add definition to your face.  Well shaped Eyebrows make a huge difference.

Exercise

Exercise will not only release stress & increase endorphins. It will make you look & feel better. If you feel better you will start to look better. I recommend getting in shape to everyone as for one its the healthy thing to do but also when you start to look better your confidence will increase. If you struggle to get motivated to exercise then I recommend getting a personal trainer as then its an appointment in your diary each week so its harder for you to not go. If you really cant bear the thought of it then find something active that you enjoy like walking, dancing, bike riding, pole dancing, horse riding ect. There are lots of things you can do to keep active and avoid the gym.

Look after your skin

Find a skin routine that suits you and stick to it. If your unsure what products to be using and then consult a Beauty Therapist who can advise you on a good skincare routine. I offer Facials and skincare advice.

Look after your nails

Regular Manicures and Pedicures will make a huge difference to the general health of your nails. If your not the sort of person who likes to paint there nails with colour then at the very least use a clear nail varnish that strengthens your nails. Nailtiques is 100% the best one on the market that I have used.

If your not very good at applying your make up properly then go for a make up lesson. I have had several makeovers with Mac and I’ve always been happy with the result.Have a spray tan. There is no doubt that everyone looks and feels better with a bit of colour.

My thoughts on Teeth Whitening

I absolutely love Teeth Whitening and think it makes a huge difference to anyone's smile. I have had my teeth whitened 3 times in the last 5 years.

The first technique I had was Laser. I had it done while I was in Thailand so I don't know which laser it was but you could feel heat when the laser was on. My mouth was clamped open and a thin line of gel was applied along the line where the gum meets the tooth. A laser was held over my teeth for 4 rounds of 30-60 seconds. Each round was a tiny bit more painful, it wasn't unbearably painful but it was uncomfortable and the heat felt hotter and hotter with each round. I paid £140 but in London you can expect to pay around £500+. Initially I thought the treatment hadn't worked but over the next few hours my teeth got whiter and whiter and but the next day they were gleaming white. I was thrilled with the result. The only side effect I experienced was I would get a second of sensitivity every few hours over the first 24 hours but that was it. Coloured food and drink should be avoided for 48 hours after the laser. They told me the laser should last 5 years but after 3 years my teeth became a bit dis-coloured again so that's when I did the home kit.

When I did the home kit I had to pay approx £100 for my mouth trays to be made then you pay approx £20 per syringe of tooth whitening gel. Its recommended you use 4 syringes over a 2 week period. During this time coloured foods and drinks should be avoided. The gels come in different strengths I think I had a 10% and a 16%. Your dentist should recommend which percentages to use as it all depends on your tooth sensitivity. Again I was thrilled with the result, teeth were gleaming white. I was abit sensitive over the 2 week period and the result lasted maybe 6 months before I needed a top up. The good thing about the home kit is once your trays are made you only have to buy the gels every time you want to repeat the process so that works out about £80. I used the Polar Light brand and was very happy with it.

The 3rd technique I used was the cool laser. The process was pretty much the same as the other laser but accept the laser is held over the teeth for 5 rounds of 4 minutes and you couldnt feel any heat. This is definitely the least comfortable way of doing it. They put a bleach on my teeth which smelt really bad like really strong chlorine and you feel like your breathing it in. My gums were red and sore after and my teeth werent any whiter. It was a complete waste of money. If you do see a cheap laser deal online then beware as its probably the cool laser method they use. Before paying for anything I would ring the company and ask what laser is it they use and do they apply a bleach first that smells like chlorine.

Exfoliation Questions

Is exfoliation a vital part of your skincare routine?

Yes and no. Pre-cleansing helps you to double-clean skin but if it still looks tired and dull, a gentle exfoliation will help. Exfoliation should be as gentle as possible so you don't damage the skins surface protective layer. You shouldn't over exfoliate as it will strip your skin of its natural oils as well as take off the top protective layer of skin which will make your skin more flaky in the long run. If you need a gentle exfoliator I like AVST hydrating exfoliating mask, C- Quence Energising Mask, B-Active Sebumasque, Intensive Alpha Hydroxy Cream & Intensive Alpha Hydroxy Gel. These products will melt off your dead skin in a very gentle way.

I have sensitive skin do I still need to exfoliate?

Its best not to exfoliate a sensitive skin. They need to maintain a healthy layer of dead skin cells on the surface of the skin (known as the horny layer) in order to prevent excessive water loss. It would be better to clean your skin with a pre cleanser then rinse off with water. If your skin is super sensitive take Vitamin A Capsules or supplements to try and rebuild and thicken your skins protective layer. Also a vitamin enriched cream is a good idea.

What's the best product to strengthen your nails?

I have always had thin, weak, peeling nails that never grew very long without breaking. That was until I discovered Nailtiques. Nailtiques are protein formulas for the nails and come in 3 different strengths.

•    Formula 1 – Maintain a healthy nail

•    Formula 2 – For thin, weak, peeling nails

•    Formula 3 – For hard, brittle nails

This Nail Strengthener is the the only one I have used that actually really works.  Within 2 week of using Nailtiques I had nails and within 6-8 weeks they were long and strong. What you should do is buy Formula 2 or 3 depending on what your nail type is and then once your have your nails in the condition that you want move onto Formula 1 to maintain your nails. If you over use Formula 2 it will have an adverse effect as over proteinising your nails will also make them break.

You can get Nailtiques off Amazon or Nail Recovery.

Self-Care in a Pandemic: Massage Safety FAQs

Q1: Is it safe to get a massage?A1: As in all things with COVID-19, safety is a relative term. Any time you’re interacting with someone outside of your household, you increase your risk of catching or spreading COVID-19. However, with mask usage, temperature checks for client and masseuse, and by scheduling your massage in your own home, you can keep risks relatively low.

Q2: Who shouldn’t, and what are alternatives? A2: If you’re at high-risk for developing serious complications from COVID-19, you’re likely being extra cautious. Fortunately, there are plenty of alternative ways to give yourself a break:

Q3: How else can I lower stress right now?A3: Ultimately, the best thing you can do for stress is to pursue a healthy lifestyle. Spiritual practices, hobbies, and finding safe ways to socialize are great, too. If all else fails, or you just want extra help, you should look into working with a mental health pro.

Focus on using whichever methods of self-care are safe and effective for you right now. More than ever, we all have to learn how to prioritize our personal wellbeing along with the wellbeing of those around us. When we make use of stress-reduction techniques, we make ourselves healthier and happier!
